Finding Coupons in Canada Guide

Finding coupons in Canada is not as hard as you might think. One of the most common things we hear is couponing in Canada is impossible as there are no coupons. This couldn’t be further from the truth; coupons have been found literally everywhere. For the purposes of helping you find coupons, we have compiled a list of where to locate them across Canada.
Finding Tear pad Coupons in Canada
These can be found in a multitude of places. They can be found on boards at the front of stores, most commonly Loblaws Banner stores; such as Real Canadian Superstore, Fortinos and Zehrs. You can also find them on boards of a few other places such as Safeway and CO-OP. They can also be found in the aisles by the product or on displays for products. Stores such as Walmart, No Frills, Food Basics and Metro will often have displays that house the coupons housed with their products. Whether it’s because it’s a new product or just a repacking, we are just happy to see them. Shopper’s Drug Mart and Rexall will often house full product displays with coupons for things such as Energizer batteries, Garnier etc. These drug stores also have coupons in the aisles hanging by products.
Rep Coupons
These are handed out by a company representative; usually at a demo display for a product. These reps can be found at grocery stores and events such as CNE, PNE, or women’s shows, as well as and many other events. Reps are not always found in stores but most weekends I tend to spot one or two between the different stores I frequent.
Company Mail Outs
Have you ever heard the phrase, “it doesn’t hurt to ask”? This is a perfect example as we often get great coupons by simply sending an email to a company. We compliment a product or simply express interest in trying a new one. I suggest you keep a list of products you like or want to try and don’t be afraid to ask. Companies want your business just as much as you want their product. Looking for a list of the ones who have mailed out check it out HERE!
Magazines
These can be found especially in Walmart and LCBO stores. We often find good coupons in free store magazines.
Hangtags
These are found on a slew of products; which makes it a great reason to try a new product or an old loved one again. These coupons can be found even in the liquor store.
Peelies
These too can be found on a variety of products, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled. Remember, taking these without purchasing the product is never ok.
Inserts
Inserts can be found in your free local newspaper. Not every week will an insert be there, but usually about once a month I find one in my local paper. They are flyer like and usually contain about 8 to 15 coupons.
Booklets
These are usually found in a lot of the same places as tear pads and they come with an awesome bonus; they usually contain some great recipes.
Newsletter or Company Sign Up
Companies love sending you information on their products, and a lot of times, if you sign up for their emails and their newsletters, they send you coupons through these outlets. This is also a great way to keep up on new product releases.
Packaging for Products
Don’t forget to pay attention to the packaging of the products you buy. A lot of times there are great coupons on, or in, the packaging. A great example is last year Janes put out a 4.00 coupon on their packages of chicken. It was located inside the packaging and needed to be cut off.
Coupons with Purchase
There are a lot of coupons you can purchase as well. Petsmart is a good example as they sell a new puppy kit that contains a great booklet of coupons. Toonies for tummies at Food Basics and Metro is another great one. For a small donation you get a booklet of coupons for a lot of great brands.
Coupons with purchase promos such as Pizza Pizza promo adding a movie entry coupon with a purchase of a specific combo. The PepsiCo promo is another great one; buy 20 in PepsiCo products and get 20.00 in coupons.
Surveys and Contests
This is also a great way to get coupons. Driscolls is a great example of this. You fill out a survey and get a printable coupon. There are a lot of promotions like this.
Social Media sites, such as Real Canadian Superstore and No Frills, often post limited quantity, high value, or free product coupons. Also, they post surveys and contests that could lead to great coupons or actual free products.
Products like pampers will often allow you to use points from surveys to purchase products as well.
Doctors and Dental Offices
They are a gold mine for coupons on things like toothpaste and toothbrushes, medicine and baby formula. Usually found on the tables in waiting rooms and the front reception desk. Although I tend to ask while I am there.
Door Hangers
These seem to be most popular out west in places such as Edmonton and Calgary. These are exactly as they sound; coupons that are hung on your front door as an advertisement.
Digital In Store Coupons
Websaver has new digital in store coupons. These coupons are limited to specific stores but do not require you to print which can be a bonus
Samples
A lot of times, coupons can be found in samples and on sample displays. So dont limit where you look while finding coupons in Canada
